Lifting and spreading of toes
5m 26s
This is one of the basic principles of PhysioYoga.
Active toes means: lifting and spreading of the toes while keeping the ball of the foot and the heel in full contact with the floor.
Active toes help to reestablish the natural arches of the feet. These dome shaped arches help to support the full bodyweight by distributing the gravitational forces throughout the whole of the foot – cfr dome shape of rooftops of churches to make sure the weight of the roof is being supported by the surrounding walls.
This exercise benefits people who are suffering from:
Flat foot arch, deformation of the toes (eg hallux valgus), heel spurs and problems of too much strain on the soles of the feet, problems with achilles tendon, problems of lower legs and knees
YOGA: supports all of the poses because it activates the flow of energy through the whole body. Especially interesting in standing poses as it supports the use of the right muscles.
